Sodium Hydrosulfite/ Sodium Dithionite

 

Sodium hydrosulfite with the formula Na2S2O4 is also known as sodium dithionite, and is white sand-shaped crystal or yellowish powder. It is soluble in sodium hydroxide solution and slightly soluble in ethanol.Powdered anhydrous sodium hydrosulfite with a small amount of water may ignite in air by the heat of decomposition. Sodium hydrosulfite is the most suitable used as bleaching agent in papermaking industry. And it is widely used to reducing dye, reducing clean, print, decolor and bleach for silk, wool and nylon fabric in textile industry and as reductant or bleach for the production of dye and pharmaceutical in organic synthesis industry.
